14th November

U10’s – A very difficult day weather-wise saw our A team knocked out of the cup 5-0 by Ipswich Athletic at Bourne Vale.  In appalling conditions, and with a couple of regulars missing through illness, the boys never really got going and rarely threatened to pose a danger to the oppositions goal. MoM was Matthew Mayes who worked hard to hold the ball up and link with his team although usually out-numbered.

The B team were also missing a couple of their number, and having stood in the worst of the weather supporting the A team, were looking cold, soaked and fed-up before they started. Once underway it was apparent that despite being up against a team from a higher division, they were in with a chance of causing an upset.
We scored through Kian Smith-Howell with about 8 mins to go, only for Athletic to equalize close to the end of normal time. Into extra time we went with the wind picking up strength all the time, again we looked like the more likely to score, but in the second 5 minute period they broke away and scored. With time running out, Kian broke through one-on-one with the keeper and was tripped by the recovering defender, Penalty. He picked himself up and slotted it away nicely. The game was played out with both missing last gasp chances to snatch it, so we moved to penalties. All those who volunteered stepped up and hit the target, scoring a 4-2 victory. Well done.
MoM Luke Dew for a combative display in the centre of midfield.

U11’s – Fixture for 14/11 was postponed because of inclement weather.

U12’s – No game for U12’s on 14/11.

U13’s – Played away to Martlesham Youth Meteors in a league encounter and came away with a 2-2 draw.

U14’s – The lads entertained a Bildeston side flying high in Division 2. All the games between the sides have always been tight scorelines and this game was no exception.
The game started with the home side with a strong winds to their backs, but despite totally dominating the game failed to work the goalkeeper.
The only exception was when Byron Melton struck a superb 30yrd freekick only to find it smash against the crossbar. The rebound was skillfully volleyed into the back of the net by Sam Barber only to be denied by the linesman flag for offside. HT 0-0.

The second half was a more even affair and despite playing the half against the wind looked the better side. With 10 minutes left, came the sucker punch when the smallest player on the pitch beat two defenders on the right and crossed for the opposing striker to score from a couple of yards.
Despite their domination the home side still couldn't test the keeper.  Final score 0-1.

The boys played really well, but must learn that to win games you have to put the ball into the back of the net. Next week the boys have a friendly against Kesgrave Town.

U15’s – On 7th November the lads were away to Whitton United Youth and were sadly beaten 2-0. Then on 8th November the boys traveled to Hadliegh in a Suffolk County FA minor cup match and were knocked out of the competition by 3-1. The consolation coming from Luke Turner. On 14th November the boys played host to Bacton Youth and were back to winning ways with a triumphant 7-0 win. The U15’s marksmen were Algar, Youngs and Turner with two goals each and one from Barratt.

U16’s – No game for the U16’s on 7th November but were on league cup duty on 14th. Played away to Wetherden & Haughley and were knocked out of the competition losing  2-1. Our goal coming from young L Doyle.

U16’s Girls – No reports to date.

7th November

U8’s –  No games for the U8’s since 17/10

U9’s –  Since 17/10 the U9’s have played a friendly against Kesgrave (24/10) and a league game against Witnesham Wasps (07/11) . The ‘A’ side won 2-1 on 24/10 with goals from Haydn Crafty and a Kesgrave OG and the ‘B’ side managed a 1-1 draw with the seasiders goal coming from Keiron Butcher. The Witnesham game was better fare as the ‘A’s came away with a 2-0 victory (Craft & Poxon the scorers) and the ‘B’s won 3-0 (King, Boggis & Porter the goal getters)

U10’s – No games for the U10’s since 17/10 up to 31/10. Back on league duty on 7/11 with an away game at Whitton United. The ‘A’ side drawing 2 apiece and the ‘B’ side winning 4-2. (Scorers not available at this time)

U11’s – Played Kesgrave Kestrels on 7/11 (no game since 17/10) and the ‘A’ side won 4-1 and the ‘B’side won 3-1 (scorer details not available)

U12’s – A friendly on 31/10 against Wickham Market and a 2-1 win. Both goals from Gorgi Thrower. Then on 07/11 back to league duty and another comfortable 4-1 victory. Goals this time coming from Moss, Webster, Andrews & Mackinlay. The U12’s are now unbeaten in 6 and top their respective league.

U13’s – Woodbridge Town was the last outing on 07/11 for our U13’s since 17/10 and on the wrong end of a 5-2 defeat. Seasiders goals coming from J Smith & J White.

U14’s – The U14's entertained title contenders Martlesham Mustangs after a 2 week break. After a competitive start the flood gates opened after 20 minutes when the home side conceded 4 quick goals. Another goal before the break made the half time score 0-5. The second half was a formality with the away side scoring a further 3 goals for a final score of 0-8. The score line reflected the difference in class between the two sides and the result still leaves the boys pointless. Another home game next week when the boys entertain Bildeston in the cup.

U15’s – 0n 24/10 the U15’s played a friendly against Bramford United and were victorious by 2 goals to 1. Our marksmen were Wildig and Youngs. Then, on 07/11 our boys took on Whitton United in a league match but sadly were beaten 2-0

U16’s – Only game since 17/10 was a league encounter against Brantham Athletic on 31/10 (no game on 07/11). Try as hard as they might, the U16’s only managed a consolation goal through K.Doyle in a 7-1 against score line.

U16’s Girls – No reports to date.

17th October

U8’s –   A & B sides. Both teams are yet to be beaten with the ‘A’ side scoring 38 goals and conceding only once and the ‘B’ side scoring 59 and conceding 3 times to date. Their latest outing was against Trimley Red Devils with the ‘A’ side winning 9-0 and the ‘B’ side winning 8-0

U9’s –   Away to a very strong Framlingham side and the ‘A’ side soon realized that they were in for a difficult time. The boys started slowly and Framlingham took full advantage to score 3 goals before the break. Our boys picked up a little in the second period and made a game of it. Kieran Butcher pulled a goal back and soon after hand another effort cleared off the line. However, Fram nicked to late goals to seas a 5-1 win.
The ‘B’ side fared little better although managed to keep on terms for much of the game only a late decider by Fram meant our boys being on the wrong end of a 3-2 result with Kieran Butcher and Rory Porter being the ’B’ boys marksmen.

U10’s – Two more excellent team performances from the U10’s this week against their local rivals. Windy conditions played their part in keeping the games exiting and our boys (and girl) benefited from trying to play the ball around on the floor.

The A team started a little slowly again this week, and found it hard to make much headway. Both teams had chances to create chances but could not provide the final pass. As the game settled, ‘Maz’ Mayes began to link well with Tom Boggis and Luke Barnes to look like breaking the deadlock with Kieran Bowdidge working hard to retrieve the ball in the middle. After 15 minutes, Luke went past his marker and delivered a cross which found its way through to Tom Boggis at the back post to fire home. The lead was held until half time, after which Lewis Hutchings gave a determined performance in midfield, and the whole team held firm until the end to earn a well deserved, if a little nervous at the end, three points.
A team man of the match – Matthew Mayes for an excellent all round game in holding the ball up and linking with the rest of the team.
Scorer – Tom Boggis

The B’s started in great style with some lovely passing and moving between the front four of Kian, Sam, Luke and Hayden to create numerous chances. Luke and Sam were providing some good width and Hayden was finding some lovely passes around the edge of the box. By half time Kian had completed another hat-trick with some great finishing and Luke Dew had snatched a forth. Early in the second half Luke popped up with a front post header to make the score 5 – 0. The rest of the game continued with everyone involved showing good movement and attempting to play some good football on the floor, despite being hemmed in at times by the strengthening wind. The final whistle arrived with no further scoring and clean sheet maintained.

B team man of the match – Hayden Dadswell for work rate and some great passing and link play to create chances for all the front players. Scorers – Kian 3, Luke Dew 2

U11’s –. A team: The match was pretty equal throughout the game with both teams having a lot of chances. In the first half Aaron Bull had a crack at goal for it to be saved & cleared over the bar. A corner which Aaron took was headed over the bar by Sam Gilder & Charlie Driver was unlucky not to score.
Half time it was 0-0. A few more chances came Bradley Bullock had a shot saved, along with a free kick taken by Sam Gilder saved. It was looking to be a final score of 0-0 until Woodbridge had a corner which was headed in. This game thoroughly deserved a draw. Ollie Rose made some fantastic saves in goal.  Final score Felixstowe 0 Woodbridge 1.

B team: Felixstowe started well with them putting the pressure on Woodbridge, Felixstowe took the lead with a goal from Harley Barkes who had numerous chances himself previous to his goal. Harry Stanbridge was outstanding in defence with some good runs in midfield. It looked like it was going to be a win for Felixstowe. 2nd half Ollie Ruffles had a good run which was saved, Woodbridge equalized in the 2nd half, but Felixstowe were unlucky & let the game slip away, Woodbridge hit back making the final score Felixstowe 1 Woodbridge 2.

U12’s – Away to Holbrook Hornets and an emphatic 9-1 victory. The lads dominated play and Holbrook were never in it. Goals from Damien Pearson (2), Jordan Dalziel (2), Freddie McDade, Matty Harrold, Charlie Bance, Ollie Mackinlay and Georgi Thrower.

U13’s – No game for the U13’s this week

U14’s – Entertained newly promoted side Martlesham Hurricanes looking for their first points of the season. Unfortunately the boys found themselves 1 down within the first minute. All credit to the boys they didn't let the disappointment get to them and started to play some very neat passing football. Despite the away side looking dangerous on the attack the scores were level midway through the half when a slide rule pass from George Connor was met by striker Johnny Brimicombe to fire home for his first for the club. However Martlesham retook the lead when a speculative shot 25 yards out flew into the roof of the net. HT 1-2.

With only one change made at half time the boys continued to play some great football and 10 minutes into the half found themselves once again level. Some good work from Byron Melton & Nathan Gould on the left gave Johnny another opportunity on goal which he calmly converted for his second of the game. The game was end to end with chances being created either end, unfortunately a lapse 5 minutes midway through the half saw the Hurricanes score twice. Despite a late onslaught the boys were unable to score again. Final score 2-4.

Despite the scoreline it was a much better performance with the boys playing arguably their best football of the season. If they continue to play like this the results will come their way. Some great performances throughout the team with striker Johnny Brimicombe and goalkeeper Tony Hitchen both being exceptional.

The boys now have a two week break before entertaining league leaders Martlesham Mustangs.

U15’s -  Travelled to Saxmundham for a league encounter and sadly came away with nil points. Evenly matched game with both sides creating chances. However, it was Saxmundham who proved the better of the two winning 2-1. The seasiders goal coming from Luke Turner

U16’s – Home to Whitton United and the lads found their opposition a handful. Kieran Sowter was in top form trying to create some openings for the boys but it was Whitton finishing the stronger. A goal from Kenny Doyle was not enough as our guests ran out comfortable 4-1 winners

U16’s Girls – No reports to date.

10th October

U8’s –   A & B sides. No report issued to date

U9’s –   No game for our U9’s this week end

U10’s – U10’s Fairing well thus far this season. A great result against Sizewell this week end  with the ‘A’ side recording  a 3-0 win and the ‘B’ side winning 4-3.

In the ‘A’ side Tom Boggis, Matt (Maz) Mayes and Luke Barns linked well to create numerous chances with some great movement and passes. It was Barns who netted the 1st goal with Maz Mayes scoring a second to go in at half time 2-0 to the good.  The second period was of similar style with our boys defense having a quiet morning. Kian Smith-Howell, making his ‘A’ team debut was unlucky on a few occasions not to get his name on the score sheet but it was Matt Tetley who rounded off the scoring and a good team effort.
The ‘B’ side were part of a high scoring encounter as each side had a fair share of the spoils. Smith-Howlett & Sam Clarkeson netting in the 1st period only for Sizewell to equal things before the half time whistle. Ben Barkes was in fine form between the posts keeping the Sizewell attack at bay. Hayden Dadswell put the boys noses in front before yet another equalizer. This was all entertaining stuff by the youngsters and K
ieran Beckett capped a great team performance with a cool finish to give the U10’s a 4-3 victory and 3 well earned points.

U11’s –. Away to St. Johns, the A team played some good football throughout the game & had many chances.  In the first half Charlie Driver had a header saved, Sam Gilder hit wide from a cross from Aaron Bull. Bradley Bullock hit over the bar.
In the 2nd half Joe Allum probably came closest to score but was brought down by one of the defenders,  which gave Felixstowe a free kick but no luck. Felixstowe were unlucky
not to get a goal & controlled the majority of the game. Final score 0-0.

The B team was similar to the A teams with plenty of chances from Felixstowe, Harry Stanbridge was strong in midfield & had a good run during the first half. Some good passing from the team. Felixstowe came close where Connor Sorhaindo took the corners & most of the team had a chance to score, but was not to be. Harley Barkes had a run where he shot & the goalie saved to then return back to Harley who then hit the bar. Eddie Marshall had a shot saved & Connor hit the post just before half time. In the second half St Johns piled on the pressure & a corner from them allowed them to score with a header in from one of their defenders. Final score 1-0 to St Johns

U12’s –. No report this week.

U13’s – U13’s hosted Martlesham Youth at Langley Ave and were beaten by 5 goals to 3. The Seasiders marksmen being Connor Ansell, Charlie Kenworthy and Jordan White

U14’s – Home to Sutton Heath at Langley Ave and were narrowly beaten 3-2. A must win game for both sides as to date neither had registered a league point. Our boys created numerous chances in the early stages but the goals appeared elusive. Seemingly our boys were still in bed when it came to defensive duties and Sutton proved how to take scoring opportunities by netting 3 times before the interval.
The second half was a better fare from our boys and they dominated the second period. Nathan Gould had 4 guilt edge chances but could not make them count. After a little composure the seasiders eventually got their just rewards when Jack Boggis rifled in from six yards. Now we heaped pressure on the Sutton defense in search of a second and the pressure paid off when Nathan Gould cleverly worked his way into the Sutton penalty area and squared for Lewis Stiff to tap in his first goal of the season. In a last few frantic minutes our boys through everything at the Sutton defense but to no avail and were disappointed to walk away with nil points still thus far.

U15’s -  Travelled to Hundon (Haverhill) for a Minor Cup fixture and were struggling for team numbers, only 11 players available so no substitutes. The 11 Seasiders did the club proud by turning in an incredible performance against a fare opposition. 13 goals (yes thirteen) to 1 with 8 of the 10 outfield players getting on the score sheet. Hundon Hawks are a reasonable side apparently but on this particular morning probably wished they stayed at home and watched CBEEBIES!!

Luke Turner getting a hatrick, Matt Barrett, Ben Bullock and Lee Dawson with 2 goals each and Hunter Elliston, Ben Hunt Ollie Wildig and Jordan Youngs completing the tally.

U16’s – Played away to Woodbridge Town and were sadly beaten 3-0. Jason tried to motivate things with a team change midway through the 1st half with further changes later in the game. All to no avail as Wood bridge finished the stronger.

U16’s Girls – No reports to date.

3rd October

U8’s –   A & B sides. No report issued to date

U9’s –   No league encounter this week so a friendly organized against Mendlesham. The A side had a good run out and recorded a 3-0 win with Kieran Butcher on the score sheet twice and Tom Lygo notching the other. The B side tried to emulate their A side colleagues but alas were not able to do so, losing 1-0

U10’s – A & B sides. No reports issued to date

U11’s – Also with no league fixture this week the U11’s entertained Woodbridge in a Friendly and unfortunately were on the wrong end of a 2-0 score line.

U12’s – The U12’s cup fixture was cancelled and a hasty friendly arranged. Details of the match to follow.

U13’s – Were away to Kesgrave Town this week and went down by 3-1 with the seasiders consolation coming from D. Finegan

U14’s – Better fare for our U14’s this week with a resounding victory over Kesgrave Kestrels (Town). Joe Coniam being the hero with 2 goals and a gift of an own goal from our opponents

U15’s -  Played host to Brantham Athletic and recorded their 3rd league win in 5 and a good performance on the back of last week’s poor result. A 3-1 victory with the goal getters being Bowditch, Wildig & Youngs

U16’s -  No game for the U16’s this week as their fixture was postponed.

U16’s Girls – No reports to date.

September 2009

September has come and gone and there was a bag of mixed fortunes for our academy kids.

The Under 9’s A side have had a reasonable start taking two draws and one defeat from their opening 3 fixtures. The Under 9’s B team struggled in their opening two games but had an emphatic 7-0 win last time out with young Kieron Butcher bagging 4 of the 7 goals.

The Under 11’s A side also managed 1 win in 3 with Aaron Bull scoring 4 of the 5 goals in a 5-3 win. The U 11’s B side equally have managed 1 win in 3 with a comfortable 5-1 win in their last outing.

The U12’s have fared much better with 3 wins in 3, scoring a healthy 13 goals with just 4 against

The U13’s have taken 3 points from 12 in their opening 4 fixtures, a tidy 6-0 win over Brantham. There are better things to come from these boys I am sure.

The U14’s have won one of their opening 3 fixtures losing 1-0 and 8-0 before notching up a 3-0 win over Kesgrave Kestrels (Town). Perhaps the tide has turned for our U14 boys and let’s see what fortunes October can bring.

The U15’s have had an excellent start to the 09/10 campaign. 3 wins and a draw from the opening 5 fixtures. Luke Turner leads the goal scoring chart with 3 goals followed by Ollie Wilding 2, Mathew Barrett 2, and Jordan Youngs 2.

The U16’s have 2 draws, 1 win and 1 defeat in their opening fixtures as they look to consolidate for a high finish in their final season at youth level.

 Andy Wilding
