(14/9)Halewood Juniors 6-0

Not an ideal start to the new season in a different league, as out of a squad of 15 we only had 11 players. However, as I have said before whatever team I put out is a very good team, and we thoroughly deserved our win.

At times we played some good football but on to many occasions we gave the ball away. The defence started were they left off last season - solid. We created chances throughout the game but were unable to take most of them. It was left to man of the match Andy Harper to show the rest of the team how to score with two excellently taken goals - one of them a header!

(21/9) Netherley WL  2-2

After an understandably shaky start (we didn't have a keeper for 20minutes) during which time we found ourselves 1-0 behind, we settled down, played some good football and created enough chances to be in the lead by half-time.We again created chances in the second-half, but once again poor finishing let us down and Netherley punished us by going 2-0 up. Credit to our lads we just kept playing our normal game, they didn't lose heart and we played our way back into the game and eventually drew level with goals from James Joyce and MoM Scott Griffiths. It was a good game, Netherley are a good side, but I think we were all disappointed we didn't win, we had enough chances to have won comfortably

(28/9) Belle Vale    1-0

We started brightly and were on top for most of the first half, creating a number of good opportunities, but once again poor finishing let us down. The teams seemed to cancel each other out for a while into the second-half until we moved up a gear and again began creating chances.Scott Griffiths scored a great goal to win the match. This was a good win against a very good side.We worked hard and supported each other, we deserved our victory and it should have been more emphatic, a very good team performance which earns everyone MoM

(19/10)    Marine    2-0

This was a good match, with both teams playing some good football. We had the better of the game throughout and always looked the most likely team to score. Our new signings, Matty Shore and Darnell Smith both had excellent games, Darnell capping his debut with a well taken goal.Joe Edwards had another good game and it was great to see Alex Dodgshon and Matty Hodgkinson back at their best. Overall a good team performance earning everyone MoM

(26/10)    Millenium    1-0

What a game, what a result, the 'Mighty Ducks' had nothing on this one. Struggling to field a team all week due to injuries/holidays/Tranmere, I must have made about 30 calls trying to get a team together, eventually it paid off, we patched up Joe Moorcroft-Moran and Alex Ross flew back from his mediteranean holiday villa to make up the 11 players to start the game.
However, we were soon down to 10 men as Andy Harper came off injured after one of several bad tackles by Millenium that the ref seemed to think was ok (just don't argue for a throw-in with him).
We were still doing well and whilst they were slightly on top we looked the most likely team to score.
But then another blow midway through the first half, Alex Ross had had too much sangria during the last week and had to come off. Down to 9 men!
The lads were brilliant, they battled for everything and gave Millenium nothing. Cal Veach competed (and won) every ball in midfield and our defence was as solid as a rock.
With just over 15 minutes remaining the cavalry arrived in the form of Darnell Smith, who having already played a game in the MHJFL came rushing over to help us out. Alex Ross, though still feeling sick, manfully brought himself back into the game.
We were back to 11 men, but did they have anything left after all the hard work they had put in?
You betcha they did, now we were on top, Darnell was causing them problems down the left and Matty Hodgkinson went close to scoring.
With only seven minutes left Matty Hodgkinson put us in front, the crowd went wild, come on the Harps!
It seemed the longest 7 minutes of my life, eventually the ref blew the final whistle.
This was a major test of the lads character and determination and they passed with flying colours.
I always say whatever 11 players we put out is good enough to win any match, I'll have to change that to whatever 9 players we put out.
Lads you did us proud today and you all deserve the MoM award.

(9/11) Netherley WLL Boys 3-0

A good performance in poor conditions, we played some attractive football and created chances throughout the game but were unable to take most of them. Goals from Jono, Matty Hodgkinson and a left foot forty yarder from the prolific Chris Jackson (according to him) saw us comfortable winners.Once again the lads impressed the opposing team manager, he complemented us on our football. Well done lads lets keep this going.

(30/11) Swanside    0-0

One of the most entertaining 0-0 matches you will ever see. This was a great game played in a truly competitive spirit, every player giving their all and not one bad tackle throughout the whole match - football as it should be.Both teams played great football and whilst possession wise it was fairly even we definitely edged it on chances and should have won comfortably.A combination of some great goalkeeping, goal-line clearances and the woodwork prevented us from scoring.Congratulations to both teams on providing us with a great football match.

(14/12) Belfry  2-1

We were not at our best during this game and can thank our defence for getting us through this one. We made too many basic errors which made life hard for us, on the positive side we ground out a result.

(21/12) NWLL Boys  6 - 0

An excellent performance to finish the year off. We played some great football on a very muddy pitch and created so many chances we should have won by more. Well done lads, a pleasure to watch, have a great xmas.

(18/1) St Annes  1 – 1

One of those games in which we thoroughly deserved to win but somehow ended up drawing. We totally outplayed St Anne’s and dominated the match from start to finish. The football was excellent, unfortunately our finishing was not.It was great to see Dom Fyles back in action after a lengthy lay off and he marked his return with a goal. Anthony Boland had an excellent game on his debut and the whole team played well.Hopefully, we have learnt that we must kill teams off and if we have a lead towards the end of the game to protect it.

25/1 Millenium    6-0

A superp display with everyone putting in great performances. We were 4 – 0 up at half-time and the football was a joy to watch, even the ref was applauding us. Matty Hodgkinson, Joe Edwards 2, Cal Veach, Dom Fyles and Jonathan Walters scored the goals with the pick of the bunch coming from Cal Veach and a Joe Edwards fee kick Ronaldo would have been proud of.

 1/2 Netherley 1-2

Yesterdays performance was very disappointing, you wouldn’t have thought we were challenging for the league, too many of our players looked like they didn’t want to be their, only our defence came out with any credit. At times Netherley looked like they had more players on the pitch as our midfield just strolled around. This result puts Netherley back in the title race, we will certainly have to improve greatly to stay in contention, the next couple of months will show just how much our players want to win the title.

It is no good just being talented footballers, you’re attitude has to be right you have to have desire and determination you have to give everything and not leave it up to other players.

Lads it’s up to you – are you Winners?
