09/09/2007 SMT 1 – 5

A very substandard start to the season, we got exactly what we deserved from the game. Sam Gorton our token goal scorer had very little service throughout the game. SMT hustled us out of the game putting in a very average performance, but take nothing away from them as they deserved the win. Connor Breen was our MOM with a gutsy and very lonely effort in goal to keep the score from being even more embarrassing.

13/09/2007   Home & Bargain 6 – 2

A much improved performance, the team looked very well balanced and back to playing the football that they are capable of. Home & Bargain put up a gutsy display going into the lead, in the fist half but we had taken control of the game by half time and were looking the stronger side an excellent treble from Kristian O'Reilly to top his outstanding left midfield performance, two great strikes from Sam Gorton with his usual outstanding performance and one goal from captain Connor O'Dea. the whole team played outstanding despite major changes due to an injury to keeper Connor Breen. Blatantly too good a team for Home & Bargain to keep up with in all areas of the pitch, well done lads!! A joint MOM award for Kristian O'Reilly's treble and Danny Colligan's commanding midfield performance.

16/09/2007 Highfield Boys 0 – 1

This was a game that we could have and should have won!! The lads however had plenty to hold their heads up for, our keeper Connor Breen was out with a knee injury forcing our team Captain Connor O'Dea to take on the goal keeping responsibilities for another week. the whole team responded to the challenge and at times played some outstanding football and it looked like Highfield were to be in for a rough ride, we had peppered Highfield's area with shots and crosses to no avail, then with a break against the run of play they scored a good goal leaving the stand in keeper no chance. The team again responded well again applying pressure from every part of the field but with out our goal scorer Sam Gorton missing many chances went begging against the frantic defending of a very fortunate Highfield Boys who surely could not believe their luck at the final whistle. MOM was given to Connor O'Dea for a very competent performance when he was called upon.

30/09/2007 North Villa 3 – 1

A very competent display of football, despite being one behind at half time in what was a very open and entertaining display of football from both teams and some excellent displays of goal keeping from both keepers much of what we have become accustomed to from Connor Breen. The second half was a whole different game with our lads stepping up a gear, an outstanding finish by a much welcomed back Sam Gorton left their keeper absolutely no chance, outstanding defensive displays from our lads totally shut out any attacks attempted from Villa. This left our midfield and forwards to systematically take Villa's defence apart helped with the introduction of Danny Swift scoring our second with a great finish, followed be an excellent Kristian O'Reilly corner Connor O'Dea scored a great header killing off the game, take nothing away from North Villa who played good football throughout. MOM went to Elliot Owens for an outstanding defensive display at left back.

07/10/07 East Villa 3 – 0

A first half goal by Kristian O'Reilly was the only difference between the two teams in what was a very sluggish start from what has become expected from the team. Second half performance was not a great improvement and was giving an average East Villa confidence until Sam Gorton put away a much earned second with great skill. Substitute Nicholas Oakford killed off any Villa chance with the third of the day before being substituted himself with a nasty knock to his head, three points taken but against better opposition could have been a different story. Sam Gorton worked really hard for the team showing the usual brilliance but was piped for MOM by Lucas Birkett with a solid performance at right back and centre half.

21/10/07 Highfield Tenants

A great start to the game against top of the league, going 1 up with a goal from Danny Colligan, Tenants evened it up after about 15 minutes then took the lead 5 minutes later after keeper Connor Breen made a great block, an outstanding overhead line clearance from Elliot Owens kept us in the hunt. A very even and well contested game in the first half, the lads had it all to play for in the second half. We started strong and created a number of chances, 10 minutes in and the referee blew for a foul (push in the back) in the area but only give a foul inside the box? (obviously disputed as a foul in the box is a pen). 5 minutes later Danny Swift had a goal disallowed for offside despite it being headed back by one of their defence, shortly after Tenants scored their third goal, after a number of questionable off-sides against us the game ended 3 -1 to Tenants. An outstanding display of football from the lads against all the odds, the usual strong dependable performances from Elliot Owens and Lucas Birkett netted them a joint MOM in an excellent all round team performance. Better luck next time lads.

28/10/07 Millennium 1 - 5

A really poor start to the game and we were quickly two goals behind and never really recovered. The game was over all too soon falling 4 behind before the ever dependable Sam Gorton pulled a goal back but received little or even no service to add to his tally. All credit to Millennium who played a tough but fair game and so many of our team just not up to the challenge and were beaten a good 5 - 1. In all a too nice game by too many not willing to put their foot in when it is required resulted in no MOM. A lesson to be learned!!

04/11/2007 Page Moss

Average start to the game, Page Moss showed lots of character only playing with 9 men and defended very well. Plenty of chances created Sam Gorton worked hard rattling a great effort against the post and Kristian O’Reilly also had some good opportunities. Johnny Rogers scored a good goal to give us the edge at half time. Page Moss equalised then Kristian scored 2 – 1, Page Moss again equalised and Kristian immediately gained the advantage 3 – 2. A really late challenge to the back of the knee on Elliot Owens put an end to what was a very solid and creative performance from the left back. Connor O’Dea scored a well taken penalty 4 – 2. Sam Gorton bagged the final two goals 6 – 2 to seal a very good performance by the striker. Excellent performances from Shea McChrystal, Jake Fitzpatrick, and Connor Breen were outshone by joint MOM Elliot Owens and Kristian O’Reilly. Well done boys!!

11/11/07 Clarence 1 - 2

A very good first half for our lads, despite having only the bare eleven due to a number of injuries and sickness the lads worked really hard and the team spirit shone through. Andrew Hindley's starting debut was rounded off with a well taken goal after some outstanding work from Kristian O'Reilly in the box saw a well worked shot blocked on the line with Andrew on hand to drive the ball into the back of the net. It was nice to see the rest of the team were as happy as him for his debut goal (great team spirit boys!!). The whole team had worked really hard but two basic defensive errors saw Clarence take the lead in the second half and ultimately the 3 points. Excellent effort from all the team but again a joint MOM Kristian O'Reilly for the dominance of central midfield and Sam Gorton who on another day would have had six for his efforts against a centre half and keeper who would not have looked out of place in LFC or EFC school boys.

25/11/07 SMT 4 – 2

A very good win for the lads, Connor O'Dea put in a great performance in goal covering once again (a true captain) SMT took the lead for a brief while before our efforts were rewarded with a great strike from Alex Croft this was equalled shortly after by Johnny Rogers, 2 -1 up at half time and a very entertaining half by both teams. SMT equalised early into the second half this made for a truly great game numerous saves from both keepers excellent defensive tackles from Elliot Owens stopped us from going behind then a fantastic finish by Kristian O'Reilly put us in front and the game was soon put out of reach by the forever hard working Sam Gorton. Connor O'Dea had a great game but was pipped for MOM by the ever improving Kristian O'Reilly.
