| [a] | Typical login usernames for BTYahoo! Broadband or BT Broadband. |
For BTYahoo! Broadband
i). anything@hgx.btinternet.com Note: users of BTYahoo! Broadband can use a similar login ID as BT Broadband users as the @hgx.btinternet.com portion can be replaced. or, depending when the account was created ii). anything@btbroadband.com For BT Broadband iii). anything@btbroadband.com General BT Broadband connection For me, I can connect using any of the following formats, however only one may actually be relevant for some people. So, if one of them does not work, try others iv). anything@btbroadband.com iv). anything@hgx.btinternet.com iv). anything@btinternet.com In all cases, anything can indeed be anything, and for BTYahoo! Broadband, the hgx should be known to the user, but can actually be any number, or indeed 'x' ! - e.g. hg1. Again, in all cases the password can be anything, possibly even left blank. |
| [b] | To force an IP address change for BTYahoo! Broadband and BT Broadband. |
Currently not for Homehub users as the login username is set in the hub.
If you have a "sticky" IP address, then one way that could force an IP change is to disconnect, and alter your login username. BTYahoo! login name is of the form anything@hgx.btinternet.com, so try using anything1@hgx.btinternet.com. There is no need to alter anything else. This can equally be applied to an adsl modem connection, or a router/adsl modem login. A similar method can be used for BT Broadband connections (and the latest BTYahoo! BB username) of the form anything@btbroadband.com. Just try anything1@btbroadband.com. Also, if possible - completely remove all power to the computer equipment, including PC, router etc. In essence, remove the plugs from the sockets |

i. Try to login again, it could be a busy RADIUS server. However, if repeated attempts are made and no joy, then try the others below.
ii. Incorrect password, double check - may need a reset, option 3 from main shortcuts iii. Incorrect username - if just the "username" doesn't work, try using username@btinternet.com - or visa-versa in the login details iv. Incorrect dialler, or trying to access incorrect service, e.g. surftime number outside dedicated hours, out of hours for surftime/anytime v. Trying to login using a secondary account. Use the primary account details as the login vi. Account may have been suspended. Billing should be contacted to re-invoke if necessary |
| [d] | Date : 02-Jun-2005 Reusing secondary BTinternet/BTopenworld/BTYahoo! email accounts. |
Until about 2 years ago - it was possible to move secondary email accounts between primary accounts, simply by deleting from one account then re-adding to another.
It is currently still possible to make this change, but will need about 90-95 days after deletion before the mail account becomes available again. |

| [h] | Mail server problems, sending or receiving using mail.btinternet.com |
If you have problems sending emails using the usual mail server mail.btinternet.com, then try using smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk in the smtp server settings
in your email client. Make sure that the full email address (i.e. including @btinternet.com) is also in the settings. Instead of the email address, you can use a relevant Public Yahoo! profile. If you login to the portal and choose My Account you will see a profile listed (one without @bt....), and you can make up another if you wish and use that. If a similar scenario exists for email receipt, try using pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk (Use of smtp.mail.yahoo.com could also be tried). |
