| I modeled this plan for the FJ after Yamaha's standard racing paint scheme. I like simple paint designs. The busier a set of decals gets the more I think they belong in the trash. I also want for people to think that the paint is stock when they look at it. There have been dozens of bikes painted this way that have come from their factory. The latest are the R1, R7, R6 series. There is a member of the list that painted his FJ yellow and black in this same sort of configuration. I looks like a monster Eddie Lawson replica RZ350. I thought that it was cool but, I did not want to use yellow. Yellow is an enlarging color. In other words it makes whatever you put it on look much bigger than it actually is. The FJ needs no help in that department. ...and besides all that it had already been done. So, I went for the blue. The bike will be the same color as an R1 when I am done. I plan to put an M&P lower on it and YZF600 running gear. You probably noticed that the tail is different. I may end up laying some fiberglass over this project. |

| The idea for this was copied from a Pontiac Trans Am that belonged to someone that I knew at the time. I loved the car so I used the paint scheme on my bike. |

| This picture
is terrible. I apologize but, it was the best I could do with what I had.
This is the bike after I painted it. I later painted Templer's crosses
on the tank. It was shot in Porsche 911 Carrera red. The black was 9931AA
Dupont. The frame and motor got the black paint as the stripes on the cosmetics.
The whole thing then got 5 coats of quick drying clear. It was damned close
to pretty in the end.
Anyway... Enough of this crap. Let's return to the topic at hand. |
