 | Risk to town centre shops – we are among the few towns that still contain
independent food shops in the town centre and not a centre full of ‘multiple’
clothes shops. |
| Expansion of Co-op and inclusion of a supermarket in Buy Right will increase the choice of food and increase
pressure on the independent shops. |
| Failure of shops will lose jobs, according to a survey just undertaken by CAASH (using
the Lady Cranbrook formula) which identifies that at least 156 jobs would be at risk, not
including the growers and suppliers of local produce. |
