FOLK
COMPANIONSOver the course of thirty years a large collection of photographs has built up of the group "in action". Unfortunately, many of these have been permanently fixed in albums, or are otherwise not directly publishable on the web. We are still looking into a practical way of making some of the better photographs available. Much of the contents of this website is also available on the Folk in Thornbury CD (see the Thornbury Bandstand page for further details).
Here are five pages of photographs, clink on the links contained in the "postcards" to see larger photographs together with further details on the subjects, the locations and the dates taken.. The photographs range from the very recent to the almost antique. The two most recent pages include photographs from our 30th Anniversary celebrations and our Summer 2002 trip to a Folk Festival near Stuttgart.

This postcard shows a selection of pictures about styles of dancing and costumes. There are some very early pictures of the group in 1972 together with the very recent. This selection also shows some of the different types of dancing that we perform - Cotswold Morris, Country Dancing, Rapper Dancing and a Mummers Play. The only thing missing thus far is English Long Sword Dancing, and although we have done that since 1972 when we were founded, I haven't managed to find a suitable photograph .... so if you have one out there, please get in touch.
