He has also been known to act as compere for concerts and folk clubs. From 2001 to 2003 he was a Member of the South East Arts Music Advisor Network.  Alan is currently Chairman of the Trustees of Tenterden Folk Day Trust and Festival Director of Tenterden Folk Festival as well as a non-executive director of the South East Folk Arts Network (SEFAN). Alan will also be a Trustee of the new St Mary’s Arts Trust (www.revelationstmarys.co.uk) providing high quality arts events of all types in Ashford once all the legal formalities have been completed.  The first folk song club Alan organised was The Victoria Folk Club in Ashford and he now runs the Tenterden Folk Club – Folk at the Woolpack Hotel.

Folk Spots continues to be involved in promoting various folk song, music and dance related events in Kent, often in co-operation with other organisations or groups, including Tenterden Folk Day Trust, Tenterden Folk Club, Steel Carpet Music, Pete Castle, Ashford Borough Council or Kent County Council. We also keep in touch with many local, national and international folk musicians, groups, dance bands and Morris sides.

If you are thinking of organising a folk music, song or dance event for your social club, PTA, youth organisation, local authority, school or other club, we could probably help you. We are not an agency but offer consultancy services and can usually put you in touch with the right people for any folk event.
