As the Friends of Littleheath Woods does
not have employees its activities are not
directly subject to Health and Safety law.
However as a responsible organisation it accepts a duty of care towards
its members
and other persons affected by its activities.
In order to exercise this duty
effectively the Friends of Littleheath Woods will have
regard to the procedures required of commercial organisations by Health
and Safety legislation.
Health and Safety Policy The Friends of Littleheath Woods endeavour to:
1. Carry on its activities in a manner
which will not put at risk the health or safety of
volunteers, employees of other organisations or members of the public.
2. Provide tools and equipment that are
safe to use.
3. Provide adequate training, instruction
and supervision of volunteers to enable them to work
safely without avoidable risk to themselves or others.
4. Make arrangements for the safe
storage, handling and transport of tools equipment and substances.
5. Arrange that a risk assessment be
carried out before commencement of any project, and that
procedures are implemented to minimise the risks from any hazards
identified,
6. Provide necessary personal protective
equipment such as gloves, hard hats etc.
7. Notify the Council of the London
Borough of Croydon of any hazards requiring its attention

practices and tool use will be given to all volunteers working in
Littleheatb Woods,
