Ford's Garden Bird Page

Just a wee page about the regular feather visitors to my garden. There have been no surprises here, other than the complete lack of sparrows, Tree or House. Why this is, I don't know.
Feeding the birds
Once the leaves and berries start to thin out it's time to give the birds a little help over winter. I use a combination of tables and hanging feeders.
A standard bird feeding table sits in the centre of my back garden. I put kitchen scraps and water on here. I also hang a couple lard/seed balls from the table. Dotted around the garden I have hung a few nut or seed feeders. It is important not to crowd all the feeders in the same area as the birds tend to squabble over there own little patches. This can be very stressful to the creatures and does more harm than good.
Cleanliness is quite important. Make sure you never give them moldy bread or allow bread scraps to become moldy, you'll kill them. Keep water trays clean and topped up. Clean up the table tops and wash out the feeders regularly.

| The mother of all feeders has arrived. It's a 24 inch "Conqueror" from CJ wild bird foods. I've also got 10kg of No mess bird food which saves a lot of waste and mess. The birds love it too. Note the nifty new bird bath, also from CJ. |
