Environmental product information enables prospective customers to check that the environmental attributes of products or services meet their expectations, or allows them to compare the performance of competing products. We think of environmental product information as 'green technical specifications'.
There are numerous formats available, broadly split between self-declared environmental claims and standardised labelling schemes.
Self-declared environmental claims still account for most of the 'product sustainability' information currently in the market.
Standardised labelling schemes are administered by a variety of bodies: public sector; private sector and NGO.
Both groups encompass formats that relate to single issues and to multiple issues. Producers and marketeers need to choose formats that work for you, your customers and those who influence your customers. The claim or label needs to be underpinned by robust data and evaluation.

EuGeos can help you to choose between the formats available and develop the information to support environmental product labels.
