4th Gillingham (Rainham) Sea Scouts
GROUP HISTORY
Our group was founded some time in 1916 and was called " 1st Rainham Boy Scout
Troop".This date is obtained from an article contained on page 11 of a pamphlet from
the Gillingham Scout week for 1957 held in the archives at
Baden-Powell House.
Some of the Key highlights of the past:
- 1916
- Formation of the 1st Rainham Boy Scout Troop.
- 1926
- Formation of the Venture Unit.
- 1943/4
- Group name changed to 20th Medway (Rainham) Boy Scout Troop.
- 1952
- Group name changed to 20th Medway East (Rainham) Boy Scout Troop.
- 1959/60
- Group name changed to 4th Gillingham (Rainham) Sea Scout Group.
