IsoMec Computer Files IsoMec clip-art drawings are supplied as compressed computer files on 3¼ (1.44Mb) floppy diskettes. These diskettes can be read on any fully IBM compatable personal computer. All IsoMec clip-art drawings are created using the designing package CorelDRAW! and are supplied on the diskettes in .CDR format. They are compatible with CorelDRAW! versions 3.0 and above. You will need to install one of these versions of CorelDRAW! on your personal computer in order to use the drawings to create diagrams. Your computer system In order to run CorelDRAW!, and hence to use the clip-art drawings, you will need an IBM compatible AT personal computer with at least a 386 processor running DOS v3.1 or higher and with Windows v3.0 or higher. A 486 or Pentium processor is preferable and will make CorelDRAW! run faster. CorelDRAW! will only run under Windows and needs at least 4 megabytes of memory in the personal computer. Once again, if you increase the amount of memory in the personal computer, CorelDRAW! will run faster. We recommend a minimum of 8 megabytes of memory. |
CorelDRAW! version 6 is now available for Apple Macontosh computers. IsoMec can therefore be used on Machintosh compatible equipment. In order to see a clear image of your diagram, you will need at least a monochrome (black and white) VGA screen - a colour VGA screen is preferable. A graphics accelerator card is recommended to speed up operation. Like all graphics packages, CorelDRAW! and graphics files produced by CorelDRAW! use up plenty of disc space so you will soon fill up a 40 megabyte hard drive. We recommend the use of a hard disc drive with a capacity of 400 megabytes or more. The Basic IsoMec Collection of clip-art drawings files supplied in version 2.2 will occupy just under 6Mb of disc space. The Supplementary Collection will require an additional 6.5Mb of disc space. Files containing diagrams produced using IsoMec clip-art can also be rather large e.g. the file containing the diagram illustrated in fig.1 is almost 150Kb in size. To produce good quality printed output of diagrams created in CorelDRAW!, you will need the use of a printer with a resolution of at least 300 d.p.i. (dots per inch). |
