Thomas not found in Index for Particular Register of Sasines for the County of Lanark with mention of Greenshieldhouse.Investigate Lks.Reg.of Sasines 1721/80 entries Thomas XIII.199,200,341,612; XVI.145(do this one first). Will be RS.42/16/145.There is also a Thomas in Biggar. All are in latin and cannot find a reference to Greenshieldhouse.
Look in General Register of Sasines. No index from 1720/1780.Must use Minute Books R.S.62.They are chronological by date.County is written in margin beside each minute.Look for Thomas Carmichael/Carnwath/Kingsinn/Craigiehall/Greenshieldhouse.Work back from 1770.Most likely bought from George Lockhart.Apparently this would be a massive job.Minute books are rarely searched.
If Thomas Carmichael and George Lockhart both lived in Edinburgh might the sasine be registered in Edinburgh?
Also Particular Register for Lks 1618/1720.Look for Thomas.
