shepherd.There was a cotters house on the farm and in it stayed one of the
ploughman with his wife and 3 children and the youngest domestic
In the farmhouse were William and his wife,9 children aged between 1 year
and 18 years,one ploughman,one domestic servant and the shepherd.
His first two children were born in Carmichael Parish,Lanarkshire where his
wife was born in 1822.His third child was born in West Calder Parish,
Edinburgh.His remaining children were born in Carnwath Parish.

!There is a large ornate red sandstone gravestone in the New Cemetery,Carnwath.
On the gravestone are William and his wife Agnes,eight of his children and
two of his grandsons.I have a photograph.
