James Fraser

Search for will SRO: CC.19/4/2 1821-4.Not found.
Died between Jul1822/Dec1823 probably Muiralehouse.See marriages of daughters Elspeth and Margaret.But he may have been alive in 1831,see daughter Christian's marriage.
Appears to have died 1823 because James More took the tenancy of Muiralehouse from Whitsunday 1823 for 17 years.In 1840 his son George took the tenancy for another 17 years.
The owner of Muiralehouse was Sir.James Wemyss Mackenzie,Bart.of Scatwell 1775-1843.On his death Muiralehouse passed to Sir John James Randall Mackenzie,Bart.of Scatwell 1814-1884.
Muiralehouse was part of the Domain of Rosehaugh and The Suddies in the Parishes of Avoch,Knockbain and Rosemarkie all owned by the Mackenzies of Scatwell.Scatwell is in Strathconnon, Contin Parish.I have a map of the Domain dated 1850 with each farm named.There is also a list of each farms tenant.James Fletcher bought Rosehaugh House in 1864,demolished it and built a bigger house.Fletcher also subsequently bought the adjacent estates of Avoch,Suddie,Bennettsfield and Eathie.
