European Connections

Here are pictures of Tamiya enthusiasts I have been lucky to meet. After communicating
via e-mail, it's nice to be able to meet these friendly people .

From left to right: Me (blazerfrazer - UK), Jon Cheshire (UK), Emmanuel Beaufils (France),
David Joos (Belgium),my friend Craig who's starting out in R/C (UK)

In June 2002 I went over to watch the Le Mans 24 hour race in France and met with Emmanuel Beaufils.
He has his own race track which we had a lot of fun racing around. We organised heats
and finals for 2wd and 4wd events.
It was exciting how we all met up together. Jon Cheshire, who lives about 2 hour's drive away from
me, arrived at my home and helped with organising. Then we got the ferry from Poole to Cherbourg in
France and started driving to Le Mans. Halfway through our journey we met with David Joos. Finally,
once we arrived at Le Mans, Emmanuel joined the pack as he lives in Le Mans, 2 minutes from the track!

I have been lucky to meet with David Joos on many occasions, however this was the strangest encounter we had.
In July 2001 I was on holiday in Italy with my girlfriend and it turned out the David and his girlfiend were
on holiday in Italy also. If that wasn't coincidence enough, we were actually planning to visit Pisa on the same day!
So we met by the leaning tower of Pisa and then went to have a pizza for lunch

My Girlfriend and I went on a tour of Italy in July 2001 by car and visited many of the
historic parts of the country, on our way through we called into see my good friend Roby Buso who lives in near Turin.

As you can imagine we spent the whole time talking about Tamiya cars and looking
through boxes of parts, bodies, wheels, kits, batteries and all sorts of cool interesting
items. It was so strange to meet up with someone that you have got to know so well
over the internet and then to meet in the flesh. Fortunately Roby's English is
Excellent as I cant speak a word of Italian!
