DEANFIELD COTTAGE
This is Deanfield Cottage. It is a detached house with a large garden in a
secluded leafy lane. In fact a well metalled narrow road with a copse along one
side and wide grass verges on the other no pathways. The house has a carriage
drive with the convenience of being able to drive up to the front door and drive
on and out in a forward direction. A great asset for those no longer young.
However "Park and ride buses are within a short walking distance and these take
you into the centre of Brighton close to the sea.
The large garden is set on one side of a wooded valley. The slope of the garden
has been modified with a series of flat areas approached by easy steps. There
are terraces and also a perfectly flat lawn.
Brighton is possibly one of the warmest parts of England. A walk along the
seafront offers every taste from a stroll on the pier with all its entertanments
to the fine architecture of the Georgion period. The Royal Pavilion illustrated
elsewhere has to be one of the wonders of the World. The green belt which
surrounds the town is also some of the finest countryside. The, so called
"Downs" (the hills just above the town) offer panoramic views - the seascape
from Worthing to Newhaven; turn around and you have the "Weald" and you can see
for many miles.
