I have been favoured to travel to a number of countries, mostly within the Mediterranean. These have mostly been package holidays were there is little opportunity to get to know the local inhabitants. I have however been lucky enough to visit two places in Africa. Tunisia and Tanzania

In 1982, soon after my wife died in 1981, my sister Barbara very kindly invited me to stay in her home near Dar es Salaam. this was a very generous gesture for which I will   be forever grateful. Her Husband was works manager of the British Leyland bus construction factory in Dar es Salaam. and they occupied a bungalow with a large garden running down to the beach a few miles out of the town. whilst it was a period of sorrow after my wife's death there where compensations in being able to renew my relationship with my sister who was very kind to me.
