John Moore (1820 - 1902) was a Suffolk painter.
He captured many Suffolk scenes, but in particular he is quoted as having painted the following subjects in Boyton:
1885 The Marshes, Boyton
1886 Scotland Fen, Boyton
1887 Cottage on the Heath, Boyton
1887 Boyton
1891 Boyton Marshes
1896 Leafy June - Boyton
1896 Boyton Village
1897 Lane in Boyton
1898 Boyton Hall
1898 Back of Boyton Hall
These works are listed in "Suffolk School Painters" Volume 1 East Anglian Painters by Harold Day, Eastbourne Fine Art, 1971. Unfortunately none of these pictures are reproduced in the book and so nothing can be deduced about the early appearance of the village.
Please let me know of the whereabouts of any of these works and I will endeavour to find out more.
