Thomas and Sarah Wolton

Nathaniel Wolton, is the first Wolton that I have been able to find. I think he was born in Butley but this is not proven. His birthdate has never been established only 1753, from death date of 5th June 1816, age 63yrs, in the parish of Capel St. Andrew. He definitely married Elizabeth Knivetty and it is thought that she could be of Dutch extraction. The birth of their children is recorded in the Butley parish records of birth.
At the time of his birth there was a large number of Woltons in Suffolk, namely those in Eric Walton's book "A Suffolk Family" obtainable at the lpswich records office. But I have never been able to see a possible link between this distinguished family and that of Nathaniels farm labouring beginnings. It is strange that Nathaniel should be born in Butley about 100 years before John Wolton of Playford and Eyke's stepson Thomas Catlin should farm there so successfully and rear horses, many of them, the finest in the land.
Nathaniel and Elizabeth's six children were all born in Butley and apart from Thomas the second surviving son, I believe they remained there.
