December 2004 Newsletter for the Parishes of
HOLLESLEY ALL SAINTS & BOYTON with CAPEL
ST ANDREW
From The Rectory,
As a child I could never understand what my parents were on about when they used to tell me that giving was better than receiving. I must be getting old as these days I can fully appreciate the joys of giving. This year for Christmas, I am giving away an amount equal to what I spend on presents to Christian Aid to buy goats for poor families in the developing world. Having lived in a developing country for 12 years I sometimes find it difficult to come to terms with how we in this country dont realize how well off we are in comparison to others.
I am not asking anyone to rush out and buy goats for Christmas, just asking that over the Christmas period we stop and think about how fortunate we are. Christmas is the time when we give thanks for Gods great gift to us, his son Jesus born in a stable, it is a time when we can give thanks to God for all the wonderful gifts He has given us over the last year.
Wishing you a Christ-filled Christmas
Yours, Geoffrey
