This photograph was taken at Heath Camp, circa 1950, standing next to Phil Shimmon's father is the Padre, who took all of these photographs, this time he included his dog.
Heath camp was located behind the row of houses on Melton RD, Hollesley (see aerial photo on another page). It was a disused army camp when the borstal took it over, there was a mess room and four or five huts complete with parade ground which Phil's father used for practical work, he shared the site with Mr Len Cox, who taught the borstal boys painting & decorating.
