General Information:

James was born in, Hungerford (Counties of Wiltshire/Berkshire) UK.There is an entry in the1891 census showing him living with his parents and sisters in Hampshire. An assumption has been made because of the unusual name, geography, and coincidence of the years, that this is the same James Henry Freebody that appears on the Bitterne (Southampton UK) Roll of Honour viz:

BITTERNE ROLL OF HONOUR
A list of Bitterne men who served with the colours in the Great War, in all branches of the Services, August 1914 and onwards up to and including November 1917.

Freebody, James H Captain King's African Rifles
Freebody, Sidney H Trooper Hants Yeomanry (Do not know this Freebody - GF)

This would be the same Captain James H Freebody that wrote the book "Heat, Hell, and Humour" published by Sampson Low. In the book, James mentions that his fiancee joined him in Africa, and they were married (possibly Mombasa), also in the book he mentions a daughter, but no names were quoted. He spent time (in more ways than one) in Venezuela, and the African Continent, usually constructing bridges.
