General Information: William was born in London (Somers Town, Pancras, Middlesex). There is an entry in the1881 census with William as an assistant shopkeeper (the owner being a butcher) in Caversham Street, Caversham, Oxford, UK. He was married to Sarah on March 25th 1885 his 23rd birthday. They were married at St Mary's Church, Peckam, Surrey. At this time William was a butcher. At the time of his son's James birth in 1885, William was a marine store dealer in Hungerford, UK. In 1887 when his daughter Sophia was born, he was an ironmonger still in Hungerford. In 1891 he was in the census of Hampshire (only indexes seen) with his wife and 3 children. No other records have been found to date e.g. death registration. It is possible that he went to the USA, as his parents and siblings had emigrated there. |
