Freya's Status:

Freya is currently on birth control. Freya is the dominate orca at MLF, and oldest. Freya , like Kim, doesn't interact. Freya and Sharkan are freinds, but every now and then they have little "fights". Freya isn't aggressive but doesn't always obey her trainers.

Freya's History:

Freya was captured with Kim, Nootka 4*, Haida 2* and an unnamed male. Nootka 4*, Haida 2* and the unnamed male were sent to Sea Land of the Pacific, whilst Kim and Freya were sent to Marineland Antibes. There, they met Betty*, a lone female, who's companion had died. Betty died 5 years later in 1987. Freya and Kim would not mate, and so MLF bought Sharkan and Tanouk*, in 1990. Freya was pregnant before Sharkan's and Tanouk's* arrival, but it was a still born. Kim mated with Freya again, but it was another stillborn.

Freya gave birth to her first living calf, Valentin, on 14th February 1996. He is Freya's only living calf. In March 2001 Freya gave birth to another still born. Freya suffered her fourth still born, on March 2003. After this, she would not perform and became very depressed. She did recover but it took her a while. All of her stillborns may be due to a skin disease, on her left side, which she had when she was younger. Vets had to radiate it with X-rays. Freya got better but the X-Ray left Freya with a white scar and damaged her reproductive system.
