Kasatka's History:

Kasatka was captured with Katina, Kotar*, Betty*, Kahana* and an unnamed male and female. Kasatka was sent to SeaWorld San Diego. Every Summer, from 1982-1984 Kasatka lived with Katina in SeaWorld Ohio, and when the park closed for winter they were sent back to SWC. In the winter of 1984, Katina was discovered that she was pregnant, she was sent to SWF. In the summer of 1985 Kasatka was sent back to SeaWorld Ohio, with Kahana*, and every year they were sent back to SWC. In October 1987, Kasatka was sent to SWF where she joined: Katina, Kalina, Kotar* and Kanduke*. A few months later, when SeaWorld San Antonio opened, Kasatka was sent there, and not long after to be joined by Kotar*. Kasatka lived with 2 orcas at SWT (Kotar* and Kenau*), but was soon joined by Kayla who was born, in November 1988.

In December 1989 Kasatka mated with Kotar, and on 13th February 1990, Kasatka was sent to SWC. She gave birth to her first calf on 9th July 1991. There is one recorded incident between Kasatka and a trainer. In 1999, she took a trainer by the leg and dragged him around the tank, but she released him before he was harmed.

In 2000 trainers tried to artificially inseminate her with Tilikum's sperm. She was the first ever orca to be inseminated, and Kasatka became pregnant. Kasatka gave birth on September 1, 2001 to a young male, Nakai.
