Kim's Status:
Kim is the most dominant orca at MLF. 4/7 of his calves are alive today, and 3/4 of his calves live with him at MLF. His first daughter, Shouka, lives in California. Kim does not do waterworks and he is not an interactive orca.
Kim's History:
Kim was captured with Freya, Nootka 4*, Haida 2* and an unnamed male. Nootka 4*, Haida 2* and the unnamed male were sent to Sea Land of the Pacific, whilst Kim and Freya were sent to Marineland Antibes. There, they met Betty*, a lone female, who's companion had died. Betty died 5 years later in 1987. Freya and Kim would not mate, and so MLF bought Sharkan and Tanouk*, in 1990. Kim had mated with Freya before Sharkan's and Tanouk's* arrival, but it was a still born.
When Sharkan had become sexually mature, Kim mated with her. on 25th February 1993, Sharkan gave birth to Shouka. A little while after Kim had mated with Sharkan, he had also mated with Freya, but it was another still born.
As Tanouk* got older, he became aggressive with Kim. Sometimes the two fought, and it was then decided to keep Kim with the females and to put Tanouk*, in a pool alone. Since 1993 Tanouk* spent all his time in the pool alone, until he was sold to Izu-Mito Sea Paradise, in Japan.
Before Tanouk* left MLF, Freya gave birth to Kim's first son, called Valentin. In 1999, Sharkan gave birth to Inouk, Kim's second son. Kim mated with Freya and Sharkan again. Freya had another still born and Sharkan gave birth to Wiki. Once again, in March 2003, Freya had another stillborn.
