Kiva's History

Kiva was Corky's and Orky*'s fourth calf. Over the first few days of Kiva's life, Corky and Kiva attempted to nurse but failed. The trainers at Marineland of the Pacific, lowered the water level and began tube-feeding Kiva four times a day. Kiva rapidly grew and put on weight. Kiva started to play with Corky, and she even interacted at the glass. After a month, Kiva became more independent, and would explore on her own, but Corky would come charging after her. Kiva and Corky developed a game, where they chased each other around the tank. When Corky caught her she would go limp and allow Corky to gently push her about the tank or lift it out of the water. The game then started to get rougher and Corky pinned Kiva against the side or bottom of the tank. Kiva then started to receive bruises. For Kiva's safety, trainers placed Kiva in a separate tank, with a female dolphin. For the first 30 hours, Kiva was fine in her new tank, but later died.
