Orkid's Status
Orkid's only living relative is Kayla of SWT. The two have never met. At SWC Orkid and Kasatka share the role of dominancy. Orkid gets along well with all orcas, but she hangs around with Corky, Splash and Kasatka the most. Like Kasatka, Orkid also likes to hunt birds. Orkid, like Kasatka, only does waterworks with senior trainers. Orkid is a very smart orca. She know over 300 signals and picks up new signals very quickly. Orkid was again inseminated in May 2003, and it's not sure if she is or isn't pregnant.

Orkid's History
Orkid is the second orca to be successfully born in captivity. Orkid's father, Orky 2*, died 3 days after her birth, and that is how she got her name. Only 11 months after her birth did her mother die, too. On 21st August 1989 a horrible incident between Corky and Kandu*, ended in Kandu's* death and the loss of Corky's eye. Corky was babysitting Orkid whilst Kandu* was performing. Suddenly Kandu* charged into the tank where Corky and Orkid were, and rammed Corky into the wall, with her mouth open, which blinded Corky. Due to the attack, a bone fragment came loose and severed an artery in Kandu's brain. She went into another pool with Orkid, and started to exhale fountains of blood from her blow hole. 45 minutes later she died. Corky then became Orkid's surrogate mother. Orkid hasn't had a calf yet. When Takara was inseminated, Orkid was also inseminated but it ended in a false pregnancy.
