Taima's Status
Because of Taima's aggressive behaviour, she has been put on birth control and may not have another calf. Taima performs in the shows but not as often as any other orca. When she performs she is often with Tilikum. Tilikum and Taima are very good friends and are often together in a back pool.

Taima's History
Taima is Gudrun*'s first calf. She was born during a storm, and that is why she is called Taima. Her father, Kanduke*, was a Transient. Taima, Sumar and Tekoa are the only orcas in captivity with Transient blood. In 1993, Gudrun* gave birth to Taima's half sister, Nyar*. Gudrun* was very aggressive to Nyar*, because of her mental and physical problems, and many times tried to drown her. Taima was very protective of her little sister and tried to stop her mother from harming her. Gudrun* died 5 days after a still birth and Nyar* died not long after. On 14th May 1998, Taima gave birth to her first calf, Sumar. But at only 3 months old, Taima was very aggressive to Sumar. She pushed him, slammed him against the wall with her tail, and tried pushing him out of the pool. Once she pushed Sumar onto the trainer's stage, slid onto it and began biting him. Sumar was soon sent to SeaWorld San Diego, with Keto. Again Taima became pregnant and gave birth to Tekoa on 8th November 2000. Once again Taima was aggressive to Tekoa, like she was with Sumar, and the two were separated. They were only allowed to be in he same pool together if a trainer or/and Katina and Kalina were watching.
