Here are the expected orca births for 2004:
-Sharkane of Marineland Antibes is due sometime in July.
-Kasatka of SeaWorld San Diego is due around October or November. (?)
August 21st: Happy Birthday Splash!
Splash, son of Nootka and Kandu (MLC), celebrated his 15th birthday on the 15th of August! Splash
is the only canadian orca who resides in the USA. When Splash was 2 years old, he was sold to SeaWorld
San Diego, to support the birth of his late sister Neocia, back in Marineland Ontario.
August 21st: We welcome a new arrival!
Kiska, of Marineland Ontario has finally given birth! Kiska gave birth to a female born on 8th August.
The Calf is nursing well and has started to swim away from mum for a few seconds but comes racing back!
The Calf is a great joy for Marineland, after the death of their main performer: Neocia. The Calf's father is Kandu,
who lives with her older brother Hudson, in the back pool. She will slowly be introduced to her family.
August 3rd: RIP MLC Angel
Neocia, star of the MLC shows has finally left our world. Neocia, daughter of Nootka 5 and Kandu 7
died on August 1st, before the park opened. Earlier in July, Neocia fell ill, and she never recovered. Her
death is unknown. The beautiful female, was Nootka's last living female calf. May you RIP Neocia, you
will be missed by many.
July 27th: Kyuquot attacks!
A killer whale created quite a scare at SeaWorld in San Antonio when he repeatedly slammed
his trainer underwater. Trainer Steve Aibel has been working with "Ky" the killer whale for the past 10 years.
Each time Aibel would come up for air, he was slammed back underwater. Thousands of stunned park
visitors witnessed the attack while other trainers stood helplessly by the side of the tank watching Ky's unusual and
dangerous behaviour. Ky eventually calmed down and no one was injured in the incident. The
trainers aren't sure what set Ky off.

July 11th: Taima turns 15!
Taima, resident of SeaWorld Orlando turn 15 today! Taima has lived at SeaWorld Orlando all her life. Her
mother is Gudrun* and her father is Kanduke*. She has no living relatives, except her two sons Sumar and Tekoa. Taima's only
relatives where her half sisters: Katerina* and Nyar*. Both of Taima's sons live in different parks to herself. Taima lives
with: Katina, Tilikum, Kalina, Takara, Taku, Kohana, Ikaika and Skyla.
July 9th: Takara goes into her teens!
Today we celebrate Takara's 13th birthday in Orlando. Takara moved from her birth-place San Diego,
with her daughter Kohana, on 24th April. Takara lives with matriarch Katina, Tilikum, Kalina, Taima,
Taku, her daughter, Ikaika and Skyla. Her mother is Kasatka and her father is Kotar*. Takara's half brothers
are Keet, Keto and Nakai.
June 22nd: Tuar turns 5!
Tuar, of SeaWorld San Antonio celebrates his 5th birthday with half-brothers: Kyuquot,
Keet, Keto, Tekoa and half sister Unna, along with Kayla, an unrelated female. Tuar's mother
is Kalina, and his father is Tilikum. His only has one full blood sibling: "Skyla".
June 17th: Keto turns 9!
Today, Keto of SeaWorld San Antonio turns 9! Keto is younger brother to Keet, and older half-brother to
Tuar (SWT) and Skyla (SWF). His mother is Kalina (SWF) and his father is Kotar*. Keto has lived in all
SeaWorld Parks (SWF, SWC, SWT, SWO). Keto currently lives at SWT with Kayla, Kyuquot, Keet, Unna, Tuar
and Tekoa.
June 5th: "KB" has now been named!
From a few sources, I can now say that "KB" (Kalina's Baby) Has been named Skyla! Skyla means
Learned One in Celtic and Sheltering in Dutch.
June 1st: Wiki turns 3!
June the first marks the third birthday of Wiki, of Marineland Antibes. Her parents are Sharkane and Kim(2).
At Marineland she lives with her brother Inouk, half-brother Valentin and an unrelated female: Freya. Her older
sister Shouka, lives in California.
May 31st: Sara turns 1!
Today, Sara of Kamogawa SeaWorld celebrates her first ever birthday! Sara lives with her mother, Stelle,
father, Bingo, uncle(?), Oscar, and two older sisters : Lovey and Lara. For a few months it was thought that Sara
was a male and she was named Tsunami. Have a happy birthday Sara, we wish you many more!
May 28th: News at MLC
~ Laurie Neron (In The Orca's Wake) confirmed that Nootka's calf died around the 18th April because her
mother couldn't feed her properly. The calf had a black dot on her chin, like Nootka, and eye patches like
Kandu.
~ Hudson and Nootka have the flu, but are both getting better
~ Kandu is now in FriendShip Cove's, old Beluga pool and Hudson and Kiska are in the back pool of the orca area.
~ Neocia is back in King Waldorf's Theatre with 2 dolphins: Tulo and Storm
May 22nd: Sad News
From many sources, there has been another death at Marineland Ontario: Nootka's calf of 2004. She
was born on 7th May and only lived for a few weeks. Her parents are Nootka and Kandu. RIP Little girl.
May 14th: Sumar turns 6!
Sumar, of SeaWorld San Diego, turns 6 today! Sumar was born at SeaWorld Orlando to Taima and Tilikum.
He has a little brother, Tekoa, and 8 half siblings: Kyuquot, Taku, Unna, Tuar, Nakai, Kohana, Ikaika and KB.
When Sumar was a calf, his mother Taima harassed him a lot, and at 10 months he was sent to SeaWorld San Diego.
In 2001 Sumar was sent to SeaWorld Ohio, but when that closed he was sent back to SeaWorld San Diego, where he still resides.
May 3rd: Kohana turns 2!
Today, Kohana of SeaWorld San Diego turns 2! Kohana was the second orca to be born through AI, to Takara
and Tilikum. Kohana was born at SeaWorld San Diego and was recently moved to SeaWorld Orlando.
Kohana lives with her mother Takara, her father Tilikum, her half brothers: Taku and Ikaika, her half sister:
KB, and 3 unrelated females: Katina, Kalina and Taima.
April 26th: It's a girl!
We all know that Nootka 5 of Marineland Ontario gave birth, but now it has been confirmed
that the calf is a girl and was born on 7th April!
April 25th: Tuar and Tekoa moved
SeaWorld Orlando residents, Tuar and Tekoa have now been moved to SeaWorld
San Antonio, to join Kayla, their older brother Kyuqout, Tuar's older half-brothers
Keet and Keto, and their older sister Unna. We suspect that Keet, Keto, Tuar and Tekoa
will be the four orcas to move to Loro Parque.
April 24th: Keet at SWT and Kohana and Takara at SWF
This morning, San Diego residents Keet, Takara and Kohana were moved from their Californian home.
Keet was sent to SeaWorld San Antonio, where he joined: Kayla, Kyuquot, his brother Keto
and Unna. Kohana and Takara joined: Katina, Tilikum, Taima, Kalina, Taku, Tuar, Tekoa,
Ikaika and KB at Orlando. Lets hope they all settle in well.
