Shamu, was the first orca to be held at SeaWorld San Diego. Shamu was caught in October 1965. Shamu died on 23rd August 1971, but she will never be forgotten. Shamu, is one of the stage names still used today at SeaWorld parks. Kilroy, caught in February 1967, died on the 23rd September 1978. Kandu, another stage name that lives on, was caught with Kilroy, and died on 16th June 1971. Orky 2, father of many calves, was caught in April 1968 and died 26th September 1988. Nootka, caught in March 1970, spent 20 years in captivity. Winston was caught on 11th August 1970. He died  on 28th April 1986. Kona, caught with Kandu 3 in August of 1971, died on 28th September 1977. Kandu 3, caught with Kona, died in June 1975. Kanuck, caught on 12th March 1972, died on 1st December 1974. Frankie, a young male, only spent 5 months in captivity. Kanuck 2, caught with Kandu 5, died on 2nd August 1981. Kandu, caught on 12th October 1977, died a horrible death on 21st August 1989. Corky 2 and Kandu 5 both had still borns at SeaWorld, and Kenau had a calf that lived for 11 days.
