Kite camera photographs

First KAP photo Here is the first of many (I hope) kite camera photographs to make it onto this page. This one shows Clinton Boyd (closest) and me, Patrick Fulton behind him. The photo is a bit blurred, but you can't be perfect first time! Click here for a photo taken by my latest camera rig of us.

A few new photos I recently took are here:

Me and Clinton trying out the new rig near Myroe.

Me and Clinton again - a straight down view . We are lying in the twisted positions because the stubble in the field was sticking into our backs and it was really uncomfortable!

A reasonable picture of my house - the yellow streak on the right of the photo is a spark from the sparkler.

Me and Jonathan Meenagh looking straight down. The rig didn't get as high as it was meant to and started to come down again, so we just stood underneath to see how it would look.

Another straight down shot , this time from pretty high up in the air. Jonathan is lying nearest the fence, and I am waving.

Photographs

Field The ploughed field just next to our house, which is just out of the picture on the right.

KAP gear
Some of the bits and pieces I use for taking kite aerial photos. The rig is not the current design, but the previous one, with the bending spars.

Close-up of present rig
This was taken with the rig pointing down.

The whole rig
Which I use at the moment.

The rig set up on some rope
to show how the strings are attached.

Herd of cows
These were in the field beside my house and were curious of what I was doing. Pity the camera didn't go higher.

My house
Taken from the same field as the previous photo.

Binevenagh from Benone beach
The camera got quite high, but it is at about 20 degrees off horizontal, showing that the rig is not auto-levelling properly.

Looking down Benone beach
With the Mussenden Temple in the distance (the little bump at the end of the ridge). Again, this photo is not properly level.

Me and Holly
Also at Benone beach. I am leaning against the boot of the car holding our dog (Holly) who can hardly be seen.

Binevenagh lake
This was taken from the top of Binevenagh, which is a hill 5 or 6 miles from my house. To give you an idea of the height, the white blur near the middle is two people walking.

Binevenagh forest
Looking in the opposite direction to the last photo, you can see the forest from very high up.

28 Sept 97

Me and Ben (my brother) in Scotland. Also David, who we were staying with, and their dogs.

Scottish cows

More Scottish cows from very high up.

Northern Irish cows in the field next to my house.

East view of coast in Scotland. This came out really clearly, compared with other photos from the same rig, but the angle problem is still evident.

West view of coast in Scotland. As before, this is a clear photo, and a more interesting one to look at than the east view.

Treehouse woods near my house. My treehouse is hidden in the canopy about halfway between the hedge in the left of the photo and the very tall trees in the middle of the woods. The white shape is my friend's house. Major angle problem here (about 16 degrees off horizontal). See the view from about a mile away at the top of a chimney - click here .
