In the 1950s black vocal singers in rhythm and blues groups were somewhat underated, until a white teenager from Cleveland, Ohio wrote tribute to the bass singer. It was... Mr Bass Man by Johnny Cymbal (1963) released as a 7" 45rpm single featuring Ronnie Bright as bass singer.
The Beatles... Twist and Shout (1963) EP (Extended Play) included, There's A Place, A Taste of Honey and Do You Want To Know A Secret? Followed in 1964 by Can't Buy Me Love (Lennon & McCartney)
My Boy Lollipop by Millie (March 1964) Recorded in London with Ernest Ranglin on guitar and arrangement. Rod Stewart on harmonica. Produced by Chris Blackwell, it sold seven million worldwide. King of the Road by Roger Miller (1964) Black is Black by Los Bravos (June 1966)
