These days I am employed as a Windows system administrator. There is little call for application programming in compiled languages. What programming I do uses scripting languages and CGI.

There is an excellent unmoderated mailing list for C and C++. The list was moved to an ACCU server (see above) late in 1998. See http://www.accu.org/mail/public/lists.htm for subscription details. This site also carries a list suited to newcomers to C/C++.
