Gary Lineker stars in Walker's Salt & Shake Television Commercial

Walkers News Big Shake-up for the Famous Salt & Shake!
The most famous sachet in the world is coming back in style with a massive rebirth of the new and improved Salt & Shake crisps. Salt & Shake Best Ever will be updated in new packaging with Walkers branding instead of the original Smiths and the unique blue sachet of salt inside every pack. The great Salt & Shake launch will be headed up by the ‘face’ of Walkers, Gary Lineker, in a nostalgic and sentimental TV ad taking us down Memory Lane. The ad, filmed in Halifax, West Yorkshire, features Gary as a young boy stealing his friend’s crisps and cycling up a steep cobbled hill, shaking up his packets of Salt & Shake in the front basket of his trendy Chopper bike. He is then seen years later – as the grown-up Gary - hurtling out of control down the same cobbled street still on his Chopper bike and making off with his precious supply of crisps! Salt & Shake made its first appearance over 50 years ago but will still be instantly recognisable in the distinctive blue and white packaging that made it famous in the first place. The packet carries the well-known Walkers brand but also recognises the brand’s strong heritage by acknowledging Originally Smiths on pack and adding Best Ever. The accompanying music is Jerry Lee Lewis’s classic rock ‘n’ roll track Whole Lotta Shakin’ Going on! Gary Lineker, the face of Walkers, said: ‘They say that once you have learnt to ride a bike - you never forget. Well, I did forget just how painful Chopper Bikes are to ride! A very wet and cold day, in Halifax, cycling up and down a cobbled hill – the things I do in the name of crisps!’ Denise Barrett, Brand Manager for Walkers Crisps and Salt & Shake, said: ‘Walkers Salt & Shake is one of the most established crisp brands in the market-place and has a huge following. “We believe Salt & Shake will be a big hit with both young and old alike and will bring back a lot of fond memories. Salt & Shake is a unique crisp with its own little blue sachet which gives people a unique choice of adding as much or as little salt as they like.” The Salt & Shake nostalgic experience can be tasted in a shop near you from the beginning of January. The ad will be on our TV screens from 16th January .
