So what do a pair of worthwhile rockers looking for some noise do on Bonfire Night I hear you ask?

Look for a gig of course and where better than that small but perfectly formed little venue, “The Red Lion” in Bozeat where we were entertained by what I think is probably the best little Rock threesome that I have seen for a very long time!

If fireworks was what you wanted this bonfire night then “8 Foot Under” were the band for you. Treading and engaging  us with a set of pure rock classics from the 70’s by the likes of Hendrix, Led Zep, AC DC, Black Sabbath & Motorhead to name but a few, their set was flawless.

Few bands these days make me really sit up and take notice and this fine “firecracker of a band” certainly did that, exploding onto stage with a range of songs that were made to feel fresh and bright all over again.

I must admit that at times it was hard to believe that such musical purity and refinement could be delivered in so small a venue and by so few musicians.

But this was no ordinary set of rockers. Skillful, talented and hard working their excellent musicianship and sheer pace, artistry, energy and delivery delivered one hell of a performance to a small but well appreciative audience.

Special note must be made to some of the most talented guitar, bass and percussion work I have heard for a long time, not to forget some excellent vocals delivered with almost sheer perfection with the added emphasis of echo which gave the proceedings a somewhat “stadium feel”.

Now before I go any further I must make mention that there are a lot of bands on the circuit who cover similar style material but few which I think truly convey this decade in rock musical history so very well as “8 Foot Under”!

This was no covers band but rather a tribute band to the music which ispired and started it all.

Sadly I am led to understand that this band will be breaking up after Christmas and I for one think that’s a real shame. There is most certainly a market on the Rock road of gigs for the material which they cover so well and such skilful, professional and passionate knowledge and appreciation of the music is hard to come by.

Catch them while you can and who knows they might just come back and rock you all over again.

I sure hope they do.

Thanks guys, it was a gas, a real pleasure!
