Medusa Touch is a hard rock covers band of quality that delivers both a punch of harder edge retro rock sounds from the likes of Black Sabbath, AC DC, Iron Maiden and Deep Purple as well as a stroke of gentleness and finesse from the lighter shades of the rock spectrum from the likes of Heart and Thin Lizzy and do true justice to the music with both charisma and style.

For me, what I really liked about this band was their ability to add a touch of themselves to their musical offerings whilst at the same time delivering true and melodic renditions of the great rock songs they covered. Add to the mix a small sample of some really good original material and what you have is a really entertaining evening.

I really liked this band which came across as being both genuine and unassuming with little of the attitude common of many other such cover bands whilst at the same time delivering the goods with craft and ability and most importantly real passion for the music.

I especially enjoyed their excellent Led Zep medley; a fantastic and almost seamless journey into the most famous and recognisable music of this great band. I also enjoyed their two Cult offerings of the night; “Santuary” & “Fire Woman” and their version of “Enter Sandman” by Metallica as well as what can only be described as their amazing cover of Heart’s “Alone”.

I really could not fault their sheer musical ability with Bryan Beasley on Drums providing one hell of a performance pounding out the beats like his drum kit was on fire, whilst twin axmen Roger Long and Trevor Owen wove a musical spell in your minds with their wonderful and creative guitar work, each taking turns on both lead and rhythm. I might also add at this point that what I also really liked about these two expert string pluckers was that musically neither appeared to upstage each other but rather complimented the music so very well. Lastly but by no means least was Allison Piearce on Bass Guitar and Lead Vocals. Allison gave a warm and passionate performance with some stompingly good bass work, but what really stands out above all else is her truly amazing rock vocal chords. Make no bones about it – this girl can sing!

A cross between Bonnie Tyler and Ann & Nancy Wilson this performer gives one hell of a powder packed vocal performance of sheer delight and class and will instantly blow the cobwebs out of your head with power, melody and tone, for this is a true rock voice that can deliver most of what the rock world can throw at her and then some!

So overall I would say that Medusa Touch is a covers band of ability and pedigree and with over 9 years of gigging under their belts, who could argue with that!?

Would I see them again? You bet I would!
