I think most Rock Fans would probably say that the music of Led Zep is that of an all-time classic frontier burning Rock band that rattled the senses as much as the mind and though it is many years ago since the band’s heyday their music still continues to live on and when performed well is as relevant and as absorbing as it ever has been.

“Whole Lotta Led” certainly deserves that mantle of true style and class reproducing the mood and atmosphere of a Led Zep gig as well as the all important music. This rock foursome certainly do put on a show of rare quality delivering a wonderful and memorable 3 hour slot of sheer unadulterated Led Zep joy. Their passion for the music of Led Zep is surely as strong as the huge crowd that stand and sway in reverence of the band to which these rockers tribute so very well.

Given the huge back catalogue of classics to choose from, the band’s set tried to deliver a mixed variety of Led Zep tunes from some of the all time classics that we could all join in with such as “Stairway to Heaven”, “Misty Mountain Hop” and “Heartbreaker” to some of the more obscure songs that still sound as fresh and bright as when they were first written.

The band’s musicianship goes without saying – they were superb hitting every key and note as if they were the real thing and for those of us who were perhaps a tadge too young to have fully appreciated a live Led Zep performance, these guys were for sure the closest you will have to the real thing.

Special mention must be made of Lee Addison who excelled at delivering a cool, smooth and mellow vocal performance, every bit as well, in my humble opinion, as Robert Plant himself. Backing him up on guitar was Nick Ferris who made the complex and mesmerising guitar arrangements of the songs sound like a walk in the park. Bringing up the rear “so to speak” was the fantastic bass work of Geoff Hunt and percussion courtesy of Graham Twist. Add to this a truly wonderful sound; care of the sound engineers at Woughton,  and the venue was set alight to the enthralling sounds which for many started it all and led a whole new generation through the rock swing doors of music.

Less of a gig and more of an event, this was true musical magic which was equally less of a nostalgia tour and more of a “bend thy knee at thy masters feet performance of very rare calibre indeed.

If any band deserved praise for carrying on the music and feel of these rock legends then this was the band to do it.

Catch them at all costs and savour the flavour of a wonderfully powerful and moving rock show of pure rock bliss!
