“Sacred Mother Tongue”
At “King Billy’s, Northampton on: Saturday 23/04/05

“Poetry in Metal Motion” is how best I would sum up this gig in what was an avalanche upon the senses of some of what I would say is the finest Rock / Metal I have heard locally for some considerable time.
Usually with Metal gigs the problem is the lack of vocal clarity or muffled instrumentation, but not this one. Every note and word could be heard in a perfectly mixed and musically diverse set which included covers from the likes of “Pantera” and “Mettalica” as well as a few of their own which were thrown into the storm and created a bit of a whirlwind this particular evening in that mecca of Northampton Rock – the King Billy.
Big time thanks and congrats. to the band for throwing in some original material. It was so refreshing to hear and good stuff it was too!
If what you wanted was a band of class musicians delivering some of the finest noise this side of a Concord Departure then this was the band for you.
No wonder this band are starting to create a stir and attracting a following. Passion for the music oozes from every pore of their being and not even a badly timed kick drum tear could prevent them from finishing a hot and sweaty set of rare quality.
Timing is crucial to any band and this quintet of metal heads were so tight you could have sliced through one of my ever thinning hairs in a heartbeat.
Percussion was splendid throughout with some impressive and powerful technical body thumpers coming courtesy of Lee Newell.
Bass was skilfully delivered and timed to precision by John Minney.
Whilst bringing up the rear were some awesome riffs provided courtesy of the band’s excellent rhythm and lead axemen Luke Di Stefano and Craig Newell.
Finally out in front delivering some impressive vocals with a crispness and clarity I have not heard for far too long was the band’s excellent and charismatic front man Darrin South.
Was I worn out at the end of this gig. You better believe it! The band had done their job and left each and every head banging one of us happy metal bunnies!
If you like metal then this band is a must see, but go see them soon before some intelligent music exec. snaps them up, they would be fools not too!
