All the pets entrusted to us are cared for by the owners at all times. Our family have only been at Brookfield Kennels since late 2003 but we have had over 40 years of caring for dogs and cats and over 10 years previous experience of owning and running a boarding kennels.   Vaccinations All pets must be inoculated against all the usual canine and feline diseases with boosters having been given at least 2 weeks before the pet(s) enter the kennels, certificates must be produced on arrival or admission will be refused. Intrac is only necessary if there is an outbreak of kennel cough in the area.   VETERINARY TREATMENT Animals are accepted at owners risk. The Proprietor will attempt to safeguard pets from loss, injury, accident or illness but the cost for any pre-conditions or treatment required over £250 will be charged to the owner. We will use your own vet, if the need arises.   FOOD We try to provide our boarders with the same or a similar food as at home so please let us know your pet’s preferred diet.   ACCOMMODATION All our kennels and cat cabins are individual units with their own runs. They are clean, spacious and comfortable. Dog kennels have plastic beds and Vetbed for comfort and in cold weather heat lamps are used. For cats their cabins have heated pads and Vetbed.   A WORD OF REASSURANCE To worried owners if your pet is well fed and made a fuss of they can be very fickle.To help your pet settle in radios are played in all the kennel and cattery areas all day. Treats for dogs are given before bed, cats during the day.   BUSINESS HOURS Brookfield Kennels is owned and run by animal lovers. We do all we can for your pets happiness whilst in our care, this means working long hours, seven days a week all year round. In return we  would ask for your cooperation by observing our opening hours as found on the back of this leaflet.

Vaccinations

We at Brookfield do everything we can to reduce the risk of Kennel cough within our kennels, and after advice from our vet have decided that dogs which have had the Intrac Vaccine must have had it at least 2 weeks prior to boarding with us. This is because the vaccine (just like the human flu vaccine) actually gives the recipient the virus in order for the animal to build up immunity to it. Our insurance will not cover the treatment of Kennel cough.

The Kennel Cough vaccine (known as Intrac) comes in nasal drop form and is administered by your vet. This will not guarantee that your dog will not contract some form of Kennel Cough.

We try to provide our boarders with the same or a similar food as at home so please let us know your pet’s preferred diet. For the most part we feed Chicken or Lamb based diets as we believe they are less likely to create digestive problems.

 

ACCOMMODATION

All our kennels and cat cabins are individual units with their own runs. They are clean, spacious and comfortable. Dog kennels have plastic beds and Vetbed for comfort and in cold weather heat lamps are used. For cats their cabins have heated pads and Vetbed. All runs are fully covered so as to provide shelter even in the most inclement weather.
