History:
The
Studio: Built for Adrian Sherwood and his On-U-Sound label, the studio has
passed through another incarnation to become the haven of live recording it is
today. Floating floors, varied acoustic spaces, a great sounding control room
and musical and experienced engineers all contribute to ensure that
music-making is as intuitive as it can be.
The Owner: Gareth Huw Davies has been
combining professional bass playing and recording for 10 years, previously
running Park Studios in South London whilst working in a wide variety of jazz,
rock, and orchestral situations from the West End to Glastonbury via the South
Bank and Ronnie Scotts. He also plays cello
and keyboards.

More about the desk
Regarded
by many as the best sounding desk DDA made, and the fore-runner of the well
regarded Audient console, the DMR12 is of a modular design and can be run as
both a split and an inline console board. This is because the pan/vol send
combination of auxes 7&8 on each channel can be switched so that the
alternate line input on each channel is fed to the mix buss, givng the 44
channel desk an additional 32 channels of inputs on mixdown. The direct outs
can also be controlled by the aux 6 pot, giving a pseudo-stereo effect send and
return path on all 44 channels. The 4-band EQ is carefully thought out, with
high and low shelving at 12k and 50hz and two semi-parametric sweeps across the
whole frequency band from 75hz to 16khz. There are 8 auxiliaries, each with
master eq, switchable pre/off/post in pairs. 1 to 6 are mono and 7 & 8 are
pan&vol as above.
