So who am I? Well my name is Gary and I live on Tamwoth Lane, Mitcham. I have been a regular visitor to the common for at least 35 years when my grandfather used to take me across to seven islands to feed the ducks.
I have been a keen naturalist / birdwatcher for many years and have a degree in biological sciences including units in plant ecology and taxonomy. I am also a very keen photographer and can often be seen on the common taking pictures.
The idea for this site grew out of a suggestion made to me by Martin Boyle the Warden for the common to perform transect surveys of the bird population on my way to work each morning. Luckily I am a very keen walker so I jumped at the idea I hope it helps you get as much pleasure from the common as I do.
