Events on the Common

 

The end of August sees the annual hay harvest on the common.

As the hay is used as horse feed it is important that it is free of Ragwort before it is harvested and so the area is hand cleared first. The crop was good this year and the weather held during the cutting and baling. The hay is distributed to stables and horse owners in the local area.
