La Chemoliere is situated about 1km (10 minutes walk) from the small country village of Cléré du Bois, which has a bar/restaurant (which also offers takeaway meals and pizza), a small grocery shop that sells fresh bread, and a play area on the village green and a riding school.

The local town of Chatillon sur Indre is a 10 minute drive and has all the amenities of supermarkets, swimming pools, various shops and a market is held each Friday. It also has a castle and dungeon.

The larger medieval town of Loches is a 20 minute drive away and is delightful with its beautiful architecture, chateaux, castle and dungeon. It has many supermarkets, shops and pleasant places to eat. Markets are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

There are many other little towns in the area that have markets, so you will be able to visit one any day of the week to sample the delicious local products.

The cities of Tours and Poitiers are an hours drive.

For children there is Futurescope, fabulous Beauval Zoo Park, a safari park. There is horse riding in the village and golf is not too far away.

La Chemoliere is centrally placed for the natural beauty of the Brenne national park in the south, with its lake and wildlife and for the man made beauty of the chateaux and vineyards of the Loire in the north.
