In 1967 “ G Whip” was born by
"Frank GW3DZJ", known as the G Whip man, he designed a resonant mobile antenna system
for "Top Band and upwards" which over
the next 40 years went from amateur to commercial strength as no antenna tuner
is required. Thousands were sold worldwide from just
one small advert in an amateur radio magazine, then came along the commercial
users to boost the business even further, read the history page
coming soon. The success of "G Whip" was
“Maximum efficiency was achieved by combining centre loading and helical
distribution” Now, "G Whip" in 2007,
continues with
upgraded commercial materials, stainless steel and non ferrous materials, the
old models and some new models for base station operation, mobile operation, special
receive antennas and special commercial models for broadcasting. Note: "G Whip" antennas do not require an ATU (Antenna Tuning Unit) as G Whips 1/2 wave base and 1/4 wave mobile antennas are resonant, it takes a couple of minutes to change coils to the required band or frequency. After all, if you use an ATU you are not tuning the antenna, you are matching the transmitter to the antenna. Look at our new mobile mount on the options page, lots of different fittings not for just G Whip antennas, but for standard 3/8" UNF antennas. British built quality, commercial versions use A2/A4 Stainless steel. Double heat-shrinked stems and waterproofed coils. G Whip also produce baluns, matching transformers, rf filters, notch filters etc
