Thanks to all who came
to Chechelele. Everyone had a great night, we saw a lot of new
faces and members from across the whole Howardian area among the
80 or so audience and we raised £200 for African charities.
Make a note of our next show -
Wind in the Willows - The Musical on Friday 5 December at 7.30
in Terrington Village Hall. A new version of an old favourite
performed by the Leeds Library Theatre Company, it will make a
great start to the Christmas season.
Cleaning Rota
The well maintained state of our Church is something visitors
always notice, but we need more people to keep it clean and tidy.
It involves an hour or so of vacuuming and dusting etc once a
month or so. If you can spare the time, ring Elaine Taylor on
648 364
Christmas Fayre
A reminder that we shall NOT be having a Fayre this year, but,
never fear, we are planning new fundraising events for the New
Year
Ryedale Prayer Breakfast
Tom & Claire Robinson are organising a Ryedale Prayer Breakfast
on Saturday 6 December 7.30 to 9.30 a.m. in the YMCA at The Sidings
Norton, Malton. (small charge for breakfast). Come and meet other
Christians from across Ryedale to seek through prayer what Our
Lord has for us. Details from Tom or Claire on 01653 648207.
The next three meetings of the Society are scheduled as follows (members please note the date changes from those initially announced):-
Tuesday 18th November: Bordeaux revisited - it's back to the Old World. And in fact probably the oldest wine area in the world. There's a huge range of types and quality of wines from the region. More modern methods are being used alongside the traditional ones and general opinion is that the reds are now made in a fruitier style for earlier drinking. We'll try to taste a selection, from fresh whites through classed growth clarets to a fine sauterne.
Thursday 4th December: A Christmas selection - our usual attempt to find something to go with the rich offerings of the imminent festive season. And some fresh and interesting wines to lift the jaded palate ready for the next onslaught
Friday 16th January: Grape varieties, flavours and countries - we'll taste a range of different wines from around the world. From a supplied list of grape varieties and countries, it's just a matter of sorting out which is which and from where. But for a bit of fun, none will be labelled! This was very popular with members last time we tried it. And prizes galore, well a couple of bottles at least to the top tasters
As ever, new members are always welcome
to attend our very informal meetings - please give us a ring if
you would like more information. All meetings are in the Village
Hall at 7.30 pm. Hope to see you then. Ken and Susie Wildey (01653
648437)
Jackie Gage from the Moorlands Nature Reserve
near York is coming to give an illustrated talk about the history,
nature conservation and plants, especially rhododendrons, in the
reserve. The programme for next year will include a visit to Moorlands.
This meeting is at 7.30 pm on Wednesday 26 November in the Village
Hall. We shall provide a glass of wine and mince pies after the
meeting in recognition of the forthcoming festive season. Order
forms will be available for composts and fertilisers at discounted
prices for delivery in February.
The big story will be the school reunion
on Saturday afternoon 25 October. Watch the Website for pic.s
and maybe some stories
