Y Felin - The Mill

One of only two working water mills in Wales.

Y Felin is a water-powered corn mill prividing a range of stoneground flours. Renovated in 1980 by the owners Michael and Jane Hall, Y Felin is one of only two working watermills in Wales and retains the machinery installed in 1820. It is thought the mill was originally built by the monks of St. Dogmaels' 12th century abbey. The miller shows how the mill works, demonstrating how wheat is hoisted to the top floor of the mill and fed into 4 foot diameter millstones to be ground into wholemeal flour. Bread, flour and cakes can be purchased from the mill.

The tea room next door offers a range of home made scones and cakes which can be enjoyed with a tea or coffee while watching the wheel turning.
