The two day course was designed by Gary Wynn. A former police officer with 30 years police experience who spent four years in Harrogate working on the actual design and delivery of a number of Part 2 assessment centres.
He has extensive experience of all aspects of the Part 2 process; consequently his knowledge is second to none.
He writes a weekly series about Part 2 for Police Review magazine and has had a book published via Police Review, about the Part 2 process entitled

Main Attributes
- An assessor since 1997
- Training of Quality Assurance team members prior to the assessment centre
- Quality Assurance and training of assessors at the actual assessment centre
- Writer of a number of Part 2 exercises and checklists (this is the document used by assessors to assess candidates)
- Team leader and project co-ordinator for Part 2 assessment centres
- Leading the Assessment Centre Management Teams at assessment centres. This involves ensuring assessors are trained to the correct level of competence, all assessment centre rules and policies are followed and management of the actual centre.
- Assessor training. He has delivered a number of assessor courses at different venues around the country.
- Had published in 2002 and 2003 a six weekly series of articles in Police Review covering all aspects of the Part 2 process
- He has designed the interactive scenarios used on the last three versions of the Home Office "policecouldyou" recruiting website
- He has a training and course design background. This includes a NVQ level 3 in Training and Development, a Certificate of Education in Further Education and Training and a BA (Hons) in Further Education and Training
- Significantly, he has been a successful candidate for both the Sergeants and Inspectors Part 2 and knows how it feels to undergo the Part 2 process!
All of this knowledge and experience has been put into designing the two day course.
All the other trainers involved in delivering the two day course have a range of experience including assessing, exercise and checklist design and various roles at the assessment centre. All are qualified trainers and have a training background with qualifications ranging from police trainers through to degree and master level.
